Truth

I
say this in the fading truth
and
last light of the day:
I
say the words I do not mean
and
mean what I don't say.
For
earth and stone can alter
in
the ocean's rise and swell -
So
too the flesh and body
and
human mind as well.
While
spoken words held up as true
are
bartered, bought, and sold
Through
eons, past the lives of men,
remains
the truth untold.
For
awhile there, it seemed like every time I told someone something important
(i.e., "I love you"), it became untrue almost immediately.
