The Wife of Bath

Never made it to the chapel

Six centuries

Gone by

She set out

On a quest for Canterbury

And I’m still sitting here

Wondering why

Refrain:

Too many stories never find their end

Riding towards a sunset just around the bend

Searching for the answers or just some conclusion

Tying up the ragged ends of their confusion

So I set out

Looking for the answers

That only I

Could find

Following

From Bath to Canterbury

To help my heart somehow

Unbind.

So I ran off

To the place where folks got married

And I climbed up

A mountainside.

I walked the ghost-

rid walls of an ancient city

Failed to complete my quest

Though I tried.

The Wife of Bath

Never made it to the chapel

Never got the man –

That’s fine.

At least she got

The chance to tell her story

Just like I’m sitting here

Telling mine.

After final refrain:

Looking for the answers, or just conclusions -

Tying up the, tying up the ragged ends.
